I have just returned from IDAL- International Decorative Artisans League - a group that meet once a year - this year in Hampton, Virginia - to show new ideas, support each other and just generally network. It was a very inspiring
We had a big stand/booth in pride of place brilliantly made by Lisa Rickert's wonderful team ( Lisa is the North American distributor) with the help of several stockists of the paint - Virginia Weathersby from Mississippi designed it.
It was a HUGE success with lots of vivitors to the show but best of all it was amazing to meet some of the stockist, some fro the fist time and some for the second or even third time.

| American Tour 1 March 2011; just back from a 3 wek tour of America going to 6 States starting in New Orleans, going on to Brandon, near Jackson, Mississippi, then Santa Monica and the Orange Country area of California, on to Houston, then Greenboro, North Carolin and finally going to Eatontown in New Jersey. I did 7 workshops and 6 demos in just under 3 weeks so it was a pretty demanding schedule but I was treated so well with such geenrous hospitality that the time went by smoothly and easily. We now have a stockist in New Orleans, one in Tampa, Florida, and a second in California. There are many other peple in other States who are showing strong interest and when I have details of who and where I will post it on the web site etc. |

| New Year Price Rise for the Paint in the UK Last year as many will know we had tremendous problems obtaining some of the raw materials, particularly the titanium dioxide pigment, for our paint. This was essentially caused by the huge demand from China and hence the price for raw materials has risen. We held off raising prices last year but we can't put it off forever, so we have decided to combine it with the VAT rise. The paint is now £16.95 a litre but as many of you will know a litre goes a long way, so it's still tremendous value for money. And of course paint as ever, is the really economical way to decorate. |

| Shops in Spain wanted! Jane in Spain has been a stockist for the longest time and as such deserves a medal if we were thetyoe of company that did that sort of thing! She has a really lovely shop in La Herradura, an old fishing village that has somewhat grown on the southern coast of Spain in Andalucia directly south of Granada. Jane has been supplying both Spanish and English, Dutch etc with people coming from miles around. She now has found Fiona who is looking for stockists so Jane can supply other shops. Can you help? We now have another stockist in London, The Forest Bailiff, in Wimbledon which is southwest London. This works well geographically with our other stockist Sally Bourne in Muswell Hill which is north London.
Lucy Woodruffe at The Forest Bailiff also sells stoves, hence the name of the shop. She'll be getting her stock ffrom us in the next few weeks.
We have a wonderful new shop called Twenty Six in Nenagh, Co Tipperary who will be selling our paint and has lots of plans to distribute the paint. Nenagh is situated almost bang inthe middle of Ireland so is perfect. The first course will be held on Friday July 23rd and the second the following day saturday July 24th.
| Latvia! A few months ago a lovely woman called Irina came all the way from Latvia to do my workshop on painting furniture. She was very enthusiastic about the possibility of seling my paint in Latvia and yesterday I had an email from her, after getting our prices, that YES she wanted to sell our paint in Latvia! This is so exciting to be in such a country! |

| Is there an interior design gene we wonder? We have just found out that Annie Sloan is related to an old and very influential interior design company in New York. Nick Sloan, Annie's brother, submitted a cheek swab for analysis, and it seems that the connection goes back probably 5 generations to either Ireland and Scotland so it is rather distant but we are like the idea of an interior design gene! Here is a piece from the Wikipedia article on the company. The advertisement is from a 1902 magazine called the Scribners Magazine. 'W. & J. Sloane set the national decorating taste of the United States, and decorated the homes of the most prominent people in the country, including the White House, created Hollywood movie sets, and even designed and decorated interiors of automobiles.
